Birley Bakery
Birley Bakery, a passion project for well-known club-owner Robin Birley, takes its inspiration from the traditional boulangerie-pâtisseries which though, at one time, ubiquitous in every city, town and village of France, have now all but disappeared from French life. This bakery, however, isn’t just an exercise in nostalgia: the maître pâtissier, Vincent Zanardi, has devised especially a selection of breads, cakes and viennoiseries for the new shop. The recipes, some of which have taken as long as five years to be brought to perfection, are a more contemporary twist on the classics once found in those much missed boulangerie-pâtisseries.
All the bread and cakes at the bakery are made from exceptional ingredients, these sourced from around the globe: the wheat flour comes from an artisanal farmer in Burgundy, the sea salt from La Guérande in Brittany, the plump almonds from Valencia, and the thick dark honey from hives in Bermondsey.

The Birley Chocolate Shop
At Birley Chocolate Shop, we endeavour to offer chocolates that stand apart in their distinction and elegance. Drawing inspiration from the French classic mendiants, Vincent Zanardi has crafted a unique creation — a thin layer of high-quality chocolate paired with a single, carefully selected fruit to enhance its flavour. Our collection is designed to showcase chocolates made by artisans from diverse backgrounds, each bringing their own heritage and expertise to the process. By using traditional chocolate bars as a foundation, we provide purists with a pure tasting experience, while also inviting adventurous bakers to experiment with our products. The shop also offers a selection of ice creams too. Visitors to the Chocolate Shop can choose to dine in, surrounded by hand-painted walls adorned with beautiful birds and the ingredients in our chocolates, created by the talented Lizzi Porter. For those on the go, we offer takeaway options, plus our ice cream window will serve ice creams in the summer and waffles in the winter.
